Dear students,
Thank you for registering for Human Service Week!
Human Service Week was originally conceived as an emergency solution to the Corona lockdowns, but has now become a format in its own right, which is often described in the literature as “Collaborative Online International Learning” (COIL).
What will happen?
In the first two days (March 25/26) there will be input from lecturers and from you. More on this below. There will be a lot of warming up and getting to know each other (“digital socializing”). Then we will form internationally mixed groups and hand out work assignments.
You will work on the topics together until 23.04. and then present a solution.
About the participants:
As things stand at the moment, student groups from Brazil, Canada, Kenya, Colombia, Poland, Rwanda and Germany will be taking part. We expect a total of 70 participants.
Your chance
With this format, we want to offer you a low-threshold internationalization opportunity. You will only be able to come into contact with students from different countries online, but at least you will be able to do so at no cost, without consuming CO2 and in a short space of time without having to give up your local beer.
If you actively participate, you can learn a lot about other countries and how international cooperation can work.
Your contribution
As a student, you have three central tasks during Human Service Week - and you should start with one task now.
1. you should take part in the online phases.
2. participate in the working groups that will be working between 26.03. and 23.04.
3. at the first meeting on March 25/26, each country will make a contribution on the topic “Living and Studying in xxx”. Here you should make a small contribution as a group for 20 minutes, what does student life look like in your home town, what does your university look like? This is a task that you should tackle now! This is only relevant for participants from the partners of HSW.
